Updates on our Towns amid the spread of COVID-19
Boys' & Girls' Towns of Latin America: Distance learning education is now available for almost all countries in Latin America, though many families struggle to access it without steady internet service or computers. Distance learning will take place for the rest of 2020. Most of our programs in Latin America have received support to provide emergency food relief to families.
A number of our young people have returned from home to our partner programs in Colombia, allowing us to better provide for their health and safety.
Boys' & Girls' Towns of Ethiopia: Distance learning has been officially implemented, and all educational institutions are providing education using different apps and resources. WhatsApp, the app Telegram, and hard copy materials are all in use. All four programs remain closed. The boys and girls of the programs are participating in school remotely.
Boys' & Girls' Towns of India: Six programs with orphan children are still operating, with all activities carried out indoors. Seven programs are closed and children have been sent home with their families.
As always, we remain committed to providing a safe home, education and supportive services to our young people, especially in times of uncertainty. We thank you for your past support, which has enabled our programs to quickly mobilize the food stores and cleaning supplies needed to weather this crisis. Please consider making a gift to help provide for some our youth's most critical needs by clicking below. As part of our urgent appeal, 100% of donations will be used for needs related to the COVID-19 outbreak.
We are honored to report that out of more than 9,000 rated organizations, A Chance In Life has been named by Charity Navigator as one of the top recommended charities providing community support and services in response to the COVID-19 crisis.
