Magic is the art of producing illusions by sleight of hand or trick props. I have learned one or two tricks so that when I visit the children in our programs in Italy, India or Ethiopia I can communicate with them despite the language barrier. One of my favorite routines is the mysterious disappearance of a red tissue. “Here is a red handkerchief … I will now put it inside my right hand and … abracadabra … it disappears!”
What follows is magical for me too. Children watch in awe and their jaws drop as they try to figure out what happened to the piece of cloth. Their smiles and expressions are priceless. In case you did not know yet, you are a magician too, even if you never spent hours practicing your act. How? With your generous gifts, you magically put smiles on our children’s faces and give them a chance in life they did not have before. It is the most beautiful magic I have ever seen because it is not a temporary illusion … It lasts forever! Please keep these magical moments alive throughout this year. I count on your support. And thank you on behalf of the many children you are supporting. Gabriele Delmonaco P.S. Have you seen a red handkerchief around? I cannot find it …
