THE AUDITORIUM PROJECT
Imagine being born in a country that is so poor you have to walk 2 hours each way to get to high school … and you have to walk 3 miles to the river to get water for your family every day …
Now imagine being given a microphone and being asked to talk about your life. Imagine being asked to express yourself to a roomful of your peers, who come from families that are as poor as you are. Imagine being asked what you want to be when you grow up and having an auditorium full of people listening to your answer. Imagine the possibilities …
The Auditorium Project has created a space in Emdibir, Ethiopia for over 400 young people to come together to play and talk and perform and celebrate their lives. It is the space where they assemble to vote on their representatives. It is the place where they share hopes, dreams and challenges with each other. It is a place where they emerge as young leaders of their own community.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, this auditorium has become a place where our kids gather to hear from other accomplished women and men about their lives and talk with them about how they got there. It is the space where they watch movies, hear lectures or produce a talent show. It is the space where they begin to see themselves in a bigger world in a bigger way. Thank you to those who made this project a reality!
