Dear Friend,
The holiday season should be a time of celebration, of gathering with family and loved ones, but this year more than ever, many children and families in countries served by A Chance In Life won’t even be able to count on a hot meal, unless we help.
Since the beginning of 2022, A Chance In Life has been serving more displaced, migrant and refugee children than ever before - vulnerable young people who have been cut off completely from their families, communities, and resources, and have no means to survive. And given the situation in the countries where we work, things will only get worse ...
In Ethiopia, the ongoing civil unrest has meant that many girls and boys are routinely cut off from school and internet, with no way to complete their schooling or communicate with their teachers.
In Italy, thousands of refugees fleeing the war in Ukraine have relocated, but they lack the language skills, job opportunities, and even necessities like housing to survive as the war endures.
In Venezuela, one in three residents is food insecure and some 20% of the country has fled since 2014, leaving families fragmented and without any means to support themselves.
And right here in the United States, our program in New York City’s Staten Island neighborhood is responding to the daily influx of migrants desperate for food and water, better education, safer communities, job opportunities, and a better life.

The list could go on and on and the need feels overwhelming ...

Together, we can give children in our programs and thousands of others who have been displaced a brighter future and a chance in life. Please, give as generously as you can for those children and families who have left everything behind.
